What We Do

WAFA’S ACTIVITIES

Educational support programs :

– Thousands of children in many areas of the country have been and are still unable to continue their education or have not had the opportunity at all for education as they have problem of distance. These children are both male and female between 7 to 19 years old. They are engaged in doing harmful works such as collecting fire wood, Paper, pieces of metal from junk yards, burning incense and work in the field.

– It goes without saying that the children are very eager to learn and to become active members of the community in which they live. In order to assist these children to be relieved from their present problems and prevented from future risks, necessary programs within drop-in centers are set up to well protect the children, to make them well mannered, mentally and physically healthy and educated citizens.

– The war and considerable amount of destructions have had a bad impact on the people of the country; particularly on Children were part of the victims affected by such disruptions. 40% of the population of the country is under 19. A lot of them have been traumatized, deprived of education and parental care.

– It needs to be stated that in 1999 the authorities banned girls and boys from coming to the centers of WAFA in Wardak to benefit from the programs. However, WAFA did not forget them during the hard times, As well; WAFA offers basic education for boys and girls.

– So WAFA since 1999 established, sponsored and supported 10 preliminary boys and girls’ school in the location witch is very far from district, street and town. Up to now including of these 10 schools all the mention schools have registered with the government

Wash and Agricultural Programs :

WAFA since its establishment runs many programs or projects which belong to water and agriculture such as.

– Since 1994 up to date WAFA has reconstructed, built and cleaned more than 100 Karezes (Under ground water flow with several wells which were joined with each other) for the people whom have had problems to irrigate their farms.

– Since 1994 up to date WAFA has digged more than 200 deep wells with hand pump for the people whom have difficulties with drinking water. These programs were implemented in different provinces of Afghanistan such as Wardak, Kabul, Ghazni, logar, Parwan, and Khost.

– Since 1994 up to date WAFA has reconstructed, built and cleaned more than 50 brooks to irrigate farmers their farms simply and to prevent from water lose during the irrigation.

– In 1998 WAFA constructed a water supply for University of Kabul to provide drinking water for the central hostel and also the irrigation water to the field of the university. This project was extremely successful and has achieved excellent development results on that occasion.

– From 1999 till now WAFA distributed round about 20,000 apples and apricots trees to the gardeners of Wardak and Kabul provinces. The project was donated only by WAFA and had good result.

– In 2007 WAFA had more than ten trainings of agriculture for more than 500 farmers and gardeners about their farms in Wardak province which were based on survey and monitoring.

– In 2007 WAFA sprayed more than 300 gardens which had disease. Also, WAFA distributed drug for spray and quality seeds to the gardeners and farmers. These two projects were extremely successful and have achieved excellent development results.

– In 2007 WAFA cleaned the Lochar-Karez which has(20 wells, 600m lengths) and build the passage way of Luchar-Karez in 60m lengths, 1.5m height to prevent flood water to enter into the Karez.

– In 2003 WAFA constructed a water supply for the University of Khost and a deep well (16 inch diameter and 70m deep) to provide drinking and irrigation water for the university. Also we purchased 12 KW generators to remove the water as easily as possible.

– In 2005 WAFA constructed a water pool in Toup village, Sayed-Abad district Wardak province according to the demand of people of that area. The extent of that pool was about 50m length and 50m wide.

Electricity programs :

– In 1998 WAFA had repaired the electricity system of Kabul University and central hostel by self-donation bases on intense need of the day for irrigation.

– In 1999 WAFA purchased a large electricity transformer and repaired the electricity system of Kabul Poly-technic and its hostel by self-donation which was considered crucial.

– In 2000 WAFA had repaired three electricity turbines and purchased six transformers in Chack Wardak electricity station. On that occasion only a few villages had electricity but according to the demand of other 30 neighbour villagers WAFA extended or connected these villages to the station by wire extension. This project donated and implemented by WAFA org. direct beneficiaries of this project was about 40000 individuals or individuals of 30 villages.

Social Services Programs :

– WAFA has been running many projects in social service in food provision, specially Eid and Ramadan packages for poor and needy people in remote areas of Afghanistan.

– In 2007 WAFA distributed clothes, blankets and hats to the arrest children of Darul-Tadib whom they were arrested with the ministry of Justice directly befitting 150 Children (Boys and Girls)
