The Water Aid for Afghanistan (WAFA) is a Women Led, national non-profit, non-governmental, non-political, and humanitarian organization working in Afghanistan since 1994. The organization was initially registered as NGO with the Ministry of Planning and further registered in February 2006 with Ministry of Economy at NGO Department of the former Islamic Republic of Afghanistan under registration number 377.
The organization is professionally managed by a group of committed and young professional Afghans having multiple years of experience with governmental and non-governmental organization in Afghanistan and abroad.
Beside, WAFA works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. WAFA also has close relation with the Ministry of Justice to empower and facilitate the street children in the light of the applicable laws and procedures. WAFA has extensive experience with IDP’s and returnees by providing them basic education, WASH facilities, hygiene education, Livelihood and health facilities with collaboration of Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
The Organization has a regional coverage through undertaking various Educational (Community Based Education (CBE), Teacher Training, Formal and informal, accelerated learnings, Civic Education, Awareness Raising (Legal Rights, Advocacy, Women Rights, Child Protection, Support to Electoral Process, Elimination of violation against women, Human Rights, Social Services programs, Water and agricultural programs, Universities Electricity Installation and upgradation, Projects in different sectors for Afghan Refugees/Returnees and local communities in Afghanistan.
The primary focus of WAFA on the grass root level, to solve the problems of the poor considering the primary areas of concern; Education, Wash, Agricultural, Food Security, Health, livelihood and social welfare
